Shana R. Helton

Shana Helton, formerly Shana Browde, received her B.S. in Nuclear Engineering, minoring in Mathematics and Bioengineering, from the University of Illinois in 2000; and an M.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences from the University of Michigan in 2002. Shana then joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and is now working on the safety and security of the storage and transportation of radioactive material in the Spent Fuel Project Office at the NRC. Outside of the office, she has joined a group of other young nuclear professionals to start up a local chapter of North American Young Generation in Nuclear in the metropolitan-Washington, D.C. area. Additionally, she serves as a mentor for American Nuclear Society participants in the Washington Internships for Students in Engineering and remains active in the American Nuclear Society.
