Evan Gonzalez

Evan is a second-year PhD candidate at University of Michigan where he studies computational methods in radiation transport/multi-physics coupling for modeling of spent fuel dry casks under the direction of Dr. Brian Kiedrowski. Evan has held internships at Los Alamos, Argonne, and Oak Ridge National Laboratories where he worked on projects including modeling radiation detectors onboard satellites, reactor safety systems simulations, and Monte Carlo variance reduction techniques.

As an undergraduate at Texas A&M University, Evan served as a delegate of the Texas Nuclear Engineering Student Delegation and President of the student chapter of the American Nuclear Society, of which he remains an active national member. Upon finishing his graduate studies, Evan hopes to establish a career as a research scientist at a national laboratory and to continue his push for carbon-free electricity generation
